The IH London school is in the heart of Covent Garden.As Interim FD I provided additional senior level resource to support a period of significant organisational change.

CVQO is a UK-based education charity offering a broad range of vocational qualifications, designed to recognise the work undertaken by young people and adult volunteers within youth organisations. CVQO’s learners can start as early as 13 with a BTEC Level 1 and progress through the charity’s range of BTEC and ILM qualifications and adult volunteers can gain ILM and City & Guilds qualifications, up to and including Level 7.As Director, Finance and Business Services I had responsibility for all aspects of finance, planning, forecasting and other business support functions including Human Resources, IT and Corporate Communications. The role also had responsibility for all aspects of compliance, including Data Protection (GDPR) and Safeguarding.

EMC was formed in 1989 and described in the Financial Times in 1992 as the "first corporate trouble shooting team in the UK”. EMC went on to pioneer the "Mobile Boardroom" concept and is now the leading independent consultancy practice in the South East.EMC provides strategic interim management and board level project consulting in the SME sector. EMC specialises in maximising, and in due course realising, shareholder value, by bringing relevant experience and knowhow alongside ambitious business owners.As a Consultant Finance Director with EMC, I provided commercially focused professional financial management to clients across the South East on an interim basis, as a part-time permanent member of the management team or as an ad hoc, project-based consultant.

SEA provides a range of services to support the development and growth of businesses and individuals across the South of England.WSX Enterprise, the main operating subsidiary of SEA, provides a range of flexible services designed to help small and medium sized businesses to be successful. These include training and courses for start-up business owners, coaching, mentoring, face to face business advice, business networks, events and workshops.

Fareham

SEA, together with its subsidiaries WSX Enterprise Limited and Plato GB Limited, provided a range of activities to support SMEs across the South of England. At the time these services included Business Link in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Dorset, the UKTI South East International Trade Team, Design South East, Design South West, Mentor-net, PLATO and PLATO Sustain.As Finance and Corporate Services Director of the SEA Group, I had overall responsibility for all aspects of the Finance and Corporate Services Division, including the Finance, IT, HR, Facilities, Training and Quality functions. During this time, I led the Division through periods of dramatic organisational change, restructuring the support functions to meet the resulting new requirements, whilst maintaining morale.

W&P is a leading UK distributor of Healthcare and Hygiene productsAs interim FD I had responsibility for all aspects of the company's financial management.

Owl Video Systems Limited was a highly commercial, market-leading supplier of large screen multimedia and video projection equipment to the leisure and retail industries. As Finance Director, I was a member of the small team of Directors that accomplished a successful turnaround of the business, stemming losses and returning the company to profitable trading, trebling turnover and substantially strengthening the balance sheet. The substantial increase in turnover was achieved both as a result of organic growth and through a strategic acquisition. The turnaround was an essential prerequisite to securing the funding needed to achieve the exit for the owner through a management buy-out.

At this time, L & E was the ninth largest general insurer in the UK and had a turnover in excess of $1bn. L & E was a wholly owned subsidiary of The Hartford, which was the third largest US life insurance company.I held a number of positions at L & E, including Manager Financial Controls, Financial Reengineering Team Leader, PeopleSoft Financials Project Manager and PeopleSoft Consultant.
