Founder of Upskill.Health, an early-stage start-up committed to scaling on-the-job training to improve maternal and neonatal care, everywhere 🌍I'm an NHS doctor working in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Pre-hospital medicine. My expertise in medical education and personal experience of the difficulties delivering the on-the-job training that healthcare workers need, led to the creation of Upskill in 2024. We know that lack of access to quality, on-the-job training is contributing to poor maternal outcomes in the NHS and low-middle income countries. We also know what training works, but it's expensive and too hard to scale. That's why - together with virtual reality (VR) developers, medical educators and other clinicians - we're combining mobile, AI and VR technologies to build a platform specifically designed to deploy cost-effectively, at scale 🚀Please reach out if you're interested to know more 👋*****Biography: I am a Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics & Intensive Care Medicine Registrar in Oxford, with a passion for medical education and innovation.I studied medicine at Imperial College London before moving to Oxford in 2014 to pursue an Academic Foundation Programme. I undertook a Graduate Research Fellowship in South East Asia, that sparked my interest in healthcare delivery in low-resource settings. I have continued to pursue this alongside further clinical training; gaining experience in disaster response methodology, expedition medicine and aeromedical retrieval in remote environments.I have always been drawn to medical education and returned to Imperial as a Senior Teaching Fellow in 2019 in order to launch a new, innovative BSc in 'Remote Medicine'. This 1-year, full-time course explored the challenges of healthcare delivery in remote, low-resource environments and offered students the opportunity to take part in a high altitude, research expedition (Mt Toubkal, Morocco (4100m)).In 2023, I was appointed as one of NHS England's 'Clinical Entrepreneurs' and have been supported to develop 'Upskill.Health' - see: www.upskill.health for more information.
