Barnett Waddingham LLP is an independent firm of actuaries and consultants with seven offices throughout the UK. As well as actuarial work, we have c. 2,400 SIPP clients and c. 1,900 SSAS clients and are one of the busiest providers when it comes to property transactions.I am a partner dealing with self-invested pensions such as SIPP and SSAS, and chair our internal SSAS & SIPP technical committee and deputy chair our internal SIPP investment committee.

The Association of Member-Directed Pension Schemes is effectively the trade body for SIPP and SSAS providers. We have about 150 SSAS and SIPP providers as members, plus another 50 firms that provide services to the SSAS and SIPP industry.I was elected on to the committee in October 2007, and appointed Chairman in 2011 having served as Honorary Secretary from 2007 to 2011.

Nigel Sloam & Co, whilst I was there, was a predominately SSAS specialist serving the local businesses. It is where I learned my trade and where I proudly became the first person to qualify as an actuary from start to finish. One of my proudest achievements and a time of my life I would never swap.
