As a member of the Data Science Informatics Department in the Integrated Data Enginering and Scientific Computing group I work alongside Scientists in SIBS working on prototypic applications that help R&D do their jobs better. My latest projects surround utilizing geospatial data. The current technology stack includes Python, geopandas, Kubernetes, AWS (Lambdas, S3, Batch et. al.), and C#. I also have experience with Gitlab CI/CD, HPC high Performance Computing, Hadoop, Hbase, VUE js applications and C++ computing libraries.

As Analyst/Developer I am responsible for management and coordination of the various company databases as well as dealing with software vendors and developing new applications to improve our access and utilization of data. I also serve as webmaster of all of the Schillinger websites specializing in PHP, perl, mySQL, and Javascript based programming including the jquery and Yahoo User Interface.Finally I also serve as front line IT support dealing with day to day user support and troubleshooting.

For the past three years, I have been employed as a student worker with the USDA-ARS research unit for the posted ARS position. Here, I have been responsible for specialized web and database visualization programming on SoyBase and related projects. In this position my duties have included working in several redesigns of the website utilizing HTML, CSS, PHP, Java Script, and a MySQL database. I also wrote and implemented a Content management system (CMS) using PHP, Java Script and MySql that aids the SoyBase curator in quickly posting news, events, and other items to the the site as well as improves communication with our user base via RSS feeds. I have also assisted my supervisor by creating several analysis tools as well as modifying preexisting tools. Examples include modifications to a preexisting CMAP install in Perl, PHP and Template Toolkit, work with SyMAP, as well as synteny tools written in Perl and an interface I have created utilizing Google Maps and PHP. Next, I am a part of a team developing a haplotype viewer in HTML, PHP, Perl and Java. Finally, I have the responsibility for maintaining and securing my development workstation, keeping an eye on both system updates and security logs as well as maintaining good security practices such as secure passwords and configurations.

As an intern at Prairie Island my primary project was to improve and extend the plant's System Monitoring and Trending Database that the system engineers utilized while trending their systems to prevent unexpected failures of equipment. This required closely working with both the engineers and the IT department in order to elicit the requirements of the project as well as understand poorly documented preexisting code. While an Intern I also developed a work aid for the 480v circuit breaker engineer that calculated breaker heater size as well as tracked previous maintenances as well as previous changes to the breakers. Next, I aided in writing Software Quality Assurance Documents for the Nuclear Engineering Department to aid in their transition from the company mainframe to an on site computer. Finally, I contacted vender's to obtain specifications on components in the Backup Diesel engines to aid the engineer for an upcoming inspection by the NRC.

I was responsible for maintaining and Administrating a diverse set of computer systems ranging from an Alpha Station running Digital Unix to several Linux servers including a Beowulf Cluster, and a Windows workstation running Windows XP. Also I redesigned the groups website to be more easily maintainable utilizing CSS, as well as Apache Includes. Finally I provided computer support to the members of the group. This support included troubleshooting machines, working with the university support system, and providing programming troubleshooting for C++.
