As Head of Tax for Beatons Group, I oversee a range of tax-related issues facing our clients. I look to encourage an ethos of approachability to tax advice, making the process of working with an accountant easy - as well as financially rewarding. The Beatons Tax Team provides excellent advice on:• International Tax matters with clients all over the world structuring their tax affairs to mitigate UK and overseas taxes.• High net worth tax planning including the use of Family Investment Companies• Inheritance tax mitigation and the use of trusts• Property investment structuring• VAT compliance and planning• Construction Industry scheme• Employee reward and remuneration planning and compliance including the use of share schemes• Corporate Tax planning including Research & Development Tax credits and investor incentives such as SEIS and EIS investments.Beatons is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a Registered Auditor and is regulated by ICAEW on investment business activities.If you are interested in discussing how we can help, please head to www.beatons.co.uk or send me a private message.ExperienceI have always been mathematically minded and enjoy the clear and unambiguous certainty numbers provide.After completing my A-Levels in Cambridge, I moved down to Bristol for a new perspective and to study Accountancy and Finance.Through studying accountancy, I have discovered tax is less about the certainty of numbers, and more about the ambiguity and interpretation of legislation.After my degree, I returned to Cambridge and began my tax training with RSM Robson Rhodes, passing the ATT and CTA exams in a role where I assisted in advising the partners of the practice as well as high net worth Individuals.A new challenge and a promotion later took me to Leeds and Grant Thornton, where I built upon my knowledge of legal partnership issues through dealing with some of the largest legal practices in the country.An opportunity then arose at Beatons Group in Suffolk, to head the firm’s tax department.I joined the firm in July 2009 - and have been with the company ever since.Outside of work, I enjoy most sports - cycling, running, football, tennis and generally keeping active and healthy. I am also father of a delightful daughter and owner of a barmy beagle.
