ContextThe BBC Proms is the biggest classical music festival in the world. It takes place mainly in London over 8 weeks every summer. It features over 150 events with around 25 concerts televised. In 2018 it presented 41 premieres, many of them new BBC commissions.The challengeSupport the sale of tickets and help users navigate the festival. Maximise opportunities for online use and discovery of Proms and related content.I’m responsible for designing, communicating and leading the delivery of the digital content offer, including:fostering productive working relationships with radio and tv production, live events, and marketing teams.provision of a website on the BBC’s events platform to advertise events, support ticketing and to present medialiaising with producers and talent in devising / commissioning / leading production of podcasts, articles, and off-schedule contentdriving innovationdesigning production workflowscuration, promotion and syndication of contentleading content delivery teamsmeasuring performance and applying learningsOutcomes:Near doubling in users of Proms content on bbc.co.uk between 2012 and 2018Over 20 million requests for online audio-visual content between 2013-2018Approx 300,000 tickets sold per season.My designation in this role was formerly Senior Content Producer. The BBC updated designations in 2018.

Some highlights in this role:2010: Editorial lead with indie Somethin Else producing social media activity for The BBC Proms, WOMAD, London Jazz Festival and Free Thinking festival.As editorial lead with indie Somethin Else produced a series of ten 2 minute presenter video profiles with high production values shot on location for the BBC Radio 3 website.2009:Editorial lead for service design project with Engine to produce a highly usable toolkit to make sure we design our digital services to deliver impact in a way that is consonant with the needs of a culturally active audience.2008:Editorial lead for project to integrate automated publishing of programme information to BBC Radio 3 website with workflow and training impacts on colleagues in radio production and UXP changes for users.2007: Produced website - Webby nominated! - and live event interactivity for Radio 3's Free Thinking Festival of Ideas.
