I have more than 2 decades experience working with children. My passion to see children and youth thrive has paved my professional life. I didn't start my work with children professionally, as a teenager, I sought to deal with the injustice of 'STREETCHILDREN'. at the time it was a plague in my city (KAMPALA). I had the opportunity (TOGETHER WITH LIKE-MINDED FREINDS) to give back to thousands of street-children a lost childhood through spiritual nourishment, life-skills, medical attention and fun sports days. (Am so proud of my younger self) I dare say, together with a few other young people we changed the approach of working with this 'at-risk group' of children and youth.The Child Development Faculty at Uganda Christian University gave me context, training and a touch of professionalism to the passion of working with and for children.Today, am an International Development Professional with expertise in Child Safeguarding, adult education, women's and girls rights, trauma recovery and ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.My 2 decade long experience has taught me that the sustainable way to help a child THRIVE, is to work with their PARENT/ COMMUNITY/… in a way that helps fortify a positive attitude and increase their INCOME. andrewepenu@outlook.com Their is no more important mission than giving others a chance to dream of a better life and equip them to live it (John C Maxwell)
