I completed a mechanical engineering internship with Voith Hydro summer and fall semester of 2022. I collected on-site data from machines and assets in the manufacturing facility. This included physical machine data, location bays, and operating procedure specific information from machine manuals. I processed data into software for tracking routine maintenance, scheduling preventative maintenance, and developing new maintenance procedures. I collaborated directly with the maintenance department to ensure accuracy of data and procedures as information was revised and updated. My internship was extended through the end of 2021 and I was able to work part-time while attending school. I used CAD to create ground floor maps for graphical navigation of the facility and machines. I then created slides of the details of each machine and facility asset to add visualizations to the process map. I am very appreciative of this engineering experience, the mentorship of my team and the opportunity to work with this great company.

As a summer mechanical engineering intern, I assisted maintenance with equipment improvement and repairs, including routine troubleshooting to solve various system issues throughout the plant. I also assisted in the lab and performed laboratory quality control testing.

I worked on a volunteer construction crew in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico one week each summer in 2014, 2015, and 2016. My main duties included: roofing, framing and digging/pouring footings. I also worked on the US Domestic Team for four summers in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, spending one week each summer repairing homes damaged by flooding and hurricanes in Cherokee, NC; Knoxville, TN; Vero Beach, FL and Hawaii. We worked in economically depressed areas and my main duties included roofing, tearing out damaged drywall and flooring, tree removal, and painting. In addition to the actual construction, I participated in year-round activities to raise funds for construction materials and travel.
