Social Media And Video Production SpecialistGroup Health Cooperative Of Eau Claire Apr 2018 - Sep 2024Altoona, WisconsinThis role began as the Marketing Coordinator - Social Media and Events position, which primarily consisted of managing social media platforms for Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire and Pharmastar, coordinating event sponsorships and appearing at community events on behalf of the organization. My position was quickly modified to include an emphasis on in-house video production.Utilizing my skills in videography, writing, video editing, voiceover and on-camera presentation, our department created hundreds of marketing videos to highlight the many ways we help and benefit our members, but also, to show how non-profit organizations that partner with Group Health Cooperative are making the community a better place. The videos we produce are posted to several social media platforms, and our video is also shared with local television stations to show the organization and its community partners in a positive light.Social media analytics tracking the organization's Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and LinkedIn pages showed growth after I took over day-to-day posting duties. In Feb. 2020, the organization was awarded first place in the Best Social Media Presence / Business category in the Volume One Magazine 2020 Best of the Chippewa Valley reader poll. It placed second in that category in 2019.Through my position at Group Health Cooperative, I also helped to organize a campaign for the Eau Claire City-County Health Department's Get the Shot Committee, which emphasizes the importance of vaccination during flu season. -

News DirectorWeau 13 News Apr 2015 - Nov 2017Eau Claire, Wisconsin AreaI led a 29-person news department including on-air anchors and reporters, producers, videographers, assignment editors and internet producers. During my tenure, we reformatted several newscasts and launched new indoor and outdoor news sets. We also started the first 4 p.m. news program in western Wisconsin in October 2017. I developed plans for targeted special reports during ratings periods and other times of year. Once we had video for those stories recorded, I wrote scripts for promotional videos to attract viewers. I shot recorded and live video to ensure that the station had the most local content in the market. The station's newscasts were consistent ratings winners as a result, and its online content contained some of the most sought-after information in the market. Because of an agreement to provide news updates and a daily newscast to the area's Fox affiliate, I also managed a full-time employee who was based in La Crosse. I made regular visits to that newsroom to provide guidance and feedback, and worked with that station's general manager on special projects. -
Assistant News Director/AnchorWeau 13 News Oct 2011 - Apr 2015Eau Claire, Wisconsin AreaAs the station's first assistant news director, I worked in tandem with two news directors to shape coverage plans for on-air newscasts and online content during the week. I was a mentor and coach to anchors and reporters, helping to ensure complete, relevant and interesting coverage on a daily basis. I also helped guide the newsroom through ethical challenges that came about on a fairly regular basis. -
Anchor/ReporterWeau 13 News May 2007 - Oct 2011Eau Claire, Wisconsin AreaDuring this period, I was a morning anchor, news reporter, multimedia journalist and filled-in occasionally as a sports videographer and reporter, producer and assignment editor. Sunrise, a two-hour morning show that I co-anchored for more than two years, was the market's most watched morning news program during that time. I also anchored a noon newscast that was a consistent No. 1 in the ratings. -
Reporter/ProducerWbay-Tv Oct 2006 - May 2007Green Bay, Wisconsin AreaThis position, which was new at the time, required me to work with videographers to create compelling news stories and live reports. On weekends, I produced fast-paced newscasts and formulated coverage plans on the assignment desk. I also filled-in as a video editor during many weekdays. In March, 2007, I was involved in the station's coverage of the conviction of Steven Avery, a story that would later go on to be the subject of the Netflix documentary, "Making a Murderer." -
Anchor/ReporterWeau 13 News May 2004 - Oct 2006Eau Claire, Wisconsin AreaAs the anchor of three newscasts per weekend, I took the lead on coverage plans for weekend days. The newscasts dominated all ratings periods and contained exclusive and important local coverage. Among the stories we broke on weekends were the deaths of President Ronald Reagan and Green Bay Packers legend Reggie White. Our coverage of a July 2005 windstorm that knocked out power to much of Eau Claire, including the station itself, kept viewers up to date on repairs and power restoration throughout the day on the Saturday when it came through town. I also served as the anchor as we broke stories of the shooting deaths of six people in a hunting dispute in November 2004 and a bus that slammed into an overturned semi in October 2005, killing five people. During weekdays, I reported news and generated story ideas. A videographer worked with me much of the time, but I occasionally shot my own stories. I also edited stories and fronted them live. -
Anchor/ReporterWsaw-Tv May 2001 - Apr 2004Wausau, Wisconsin AreaDuring my three years at the station, I took on nearly every role in the newsroom: anchor, reporter, photojournalist, producer, sports anchor/reporter and others. I regularly contributed content to the station's website and generated ideas that became lead news and sports storiesInitially hired as a photojournalist, I was quickly promoted to reporter and led the station's live coverage in all newscasts on September 11, 2001. The station also sent me to San Diego, CA to create an eight-part series on young men from the area who were headed to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Several months later, I was promoted to morning/noon anchor, where I helped continue the station's ratings lead for both programs. In 2002 and 2003, I was a sports anchor/reporter. Along with covering prep sports and following local teams and athletes to state tournaments for football, basketball, hockey and wrestling, I traveled to Green Bay twice per week to cover the Packers 2002 season. The following winter, UW-Stevens Point's men's basketball team won the NCAA Div. III National Championship. I covered many of the team's games and practices that season, and reported on the team's return to the area after winning the title.I frequently filled in as a news anchor and reporter during my last two years with the station. In May 2003, a month that was tracked for ratings, I anchored Newschannel 7 at Noon. The result was a landslide victory for the station, with nearly three times the viewership of its nearest competitor, and some of the best ratings numbers for that newscast in station history.
