Looking at my profile you’ll see that I’ve spent a large part of my career in libraries. There’s still a misconception that this involves shushing people and reading a lot. It’s not like that. I’ve been responsible for parts of an organisation up to 40 staff and budgets of up to £750 000, I’ve had to market and promote the service to improve footfall, work with people of all ages, backgrounds and states of intoxication. Yes, I learned a lot about books, but I learned more about planning, prioritising, achieving and working with people.It’s easy to just say I’ve experience of project management, but what I do is to pull together the ideas and ability of different people and bring them together so that we achieve our goal. I focus on the result for the end user, the customer. I'm good at working with other professionals and trades and evaluating options and making decisions. I know what it’s like when someone above makes a decision and we have to live with it - whether it’s an IT solution, or a design for a new building. I work with the people who will be using the solution and make sure they are ready for the change.If things are bad I’ll tell you there’re bad and then I’ll work with you to make them better.
