I have assumed increasing levels of responsibility across a wide range of industries and business disciplines in my career. I have worked for a large consulting firm, have been engaged in a handful of startup enterprises, have worked with a boutique VC firm, and most recently (the last five years) I have been teaching at the university level with courses including Entrepreneurship, Operations Management, International Management, Management Information Systems and Project Management.My professional career began with a large, national consulting firm where my clients were in industries ranging from manufacturing to insurance to defense contracting. Learning to manage complex technical projects was essential to successful client engagements as well as future sales to our clients.After that I worked for a rapidly growing startup entity in the technology arena, and I was heavily engaged in Operations Management and later in Marketing and Sales. Among other things, I had responsibility for coordinating marketing, design, engineering, manufacturing, QA and service efforts in the development, launch and after-sale support of the technical products we manufactured. That firm eventually grew to $40M in revenue.Next I took a position as the COO and CFO of a plastics manufacturing organization specializing in production of technical multi-layer film products. I was the primary person responsible for procurement, logistics, finance, human resources and sales to customers throughout North and South America as we grew that into a $35M operation. I also spent about 12 years with a firm that designed and manufactured large, specialized, custom signage products for a variety of customers across the United States. As the President and CEO I had responsibility for all manufacturing, sales and finance functions of a $28M organization. While working for a private investment firm I helped to find, evaluate, and invest in start-up businesses that were primarily technology related.
