Prior to joining the Action Committee of People with Disabilities ("ACPD") as a summer law student in the summer of 2014, I volunteered as a student legal advocate through the Pro Bono Students Society, University of Victoria chapter, from September of 2013 to April of 2014. As a legal advocate, both as a volunteer and a summer law student, I was directly responsible for creating and handling client files associated with applications for, or appeals of, provincial and federal disability… Show more Prior to joining the Action Committee of People with Disabilities ("ACPD") as a summer law student in the summer of 2014, I volunteered as a student legal advocate through the Pro Bono Students Society, University of Victoria chapter, from September of 2013 to April of 2014. As a legal advocate, both as a volunteer and a summer law student, I was directly responsible for creating and handling client files associated with applications for, or appeals of, provincial and federal disability benefits, and complaints under the Residential Tenancy Act (BC). I met with clients, corresponded with government agencies and where applicable, assisted in court hearings. As a second-year law student, from September of 2014 to April of 2015, I volunteered as Treasurer and director of the organization. I attended board meetings to discuss budget, expenditures, auditors reports and financial planning. Show less
