About Andrew Galer

I have been at Janes, the defence intelligence specialist since 2015 where I run a team of 9 staff including reports in UK and India including SMEs focused on land platforms covering five subject areas. I manage the processes for publishing online content using Brightspot, and I also support other teams including editing and production. Other areas of responsibility include liaison and providing responses to external media and writing some content. Other involvements have included the internal mentoring programme and Janes Leadership network to develop and support internal talent.Previously an Intelligence, Operations and management professional with wide experience of commercial activity as well as a qualification and experience in Personnel Management. I am therefore able to understand, relate to and combine the military and civilian worlds. I left the Regular Army in late 2013 and now managing a team of land platform specialists in Aerospace, Defence and Security publishing/ intelligence, having previously spent time in with a specialist crisis management and response consultancy as a Lead Analyst and Team Leader. Used to presenting to senior individuals and large groups I am happy to distil information from multiple sources, combine it with assessment and then deliver it in a style that maintains interest and engagement including analytical reports and briefing documents.Likewise I have worked with a large number of intelligence and security professionals and having been trained in intelligence and human intelligence I am comfortable in gathering, analysing and disseminating information. As a leader and manager, most of my work has been in teams of varying skill and experience and I have had to combine a diverse group of people to establish priorities, delegate activity and supervise workloads. My team now covers both the UK and India and includes remote and sub-contract workers. My experience has included working in hostile environments as well as conventional offices with regular travel.
