This was a varied and exciting role for me at one of the most innovative musical instrument and software manufacturers in the world. My responsibilities ended up being part sales account manager, part product demonstrator and part PR assistant. During my time at ROLI I coordinated with local distribution and retail partners to implement product training, sales strategies and in-store support for the AU/NZ roll-out of ROLI products as the sole Australian-based member of the ROLI team.I also supported ROLI's local PR partners (Rocket Comms PR) by conducting interviews and product demonstrations with a range of media outlets (News Corp, Fairfax and others), as well as applying my extensive music industry knowledge to organise the ROLI AU/NZ launch event. This included sourcing and communicating with featured artists, audio-visual technicians and additional product demonstrators.The role also involved international opportunities to support ROLI’s distribution partners at various industry events including NAMM (US), Tokyo Music Instrument Fair (Japan), PB Tech Expo (NZ).One highlight for me was liaising with members of the Powerhouse Museum curation and technical teams to design and realise an interactive ROLI installation which implemented a software setup that I designed. This was a varied teaching experience, which included:- individual tuition of tertiary level contemporary piano/keyboard students;- conducting piano/keyboard masterclasses, providing students with a focussed exploration of select musical techniques or concepts in a group environment;- instruction of music instrumental and vocal ensembles, guiding them through repertoire and providing feedback both on a group and individual level.
