About Andrew Glester

As well as being a senior lecturer, I am driven by the desire to engage people with Science and the Arts. I promoted BBC The Blue Planet Live! tours in 2006 and 2008, going on to produce and direct Polar, the live concerts.My portfolio includes clients such as the BBC, the LDA for London 2012, Manchester City Football Club, Manchester Airport Group and Radisson Edwardian on a variety of projects.I produce and present the Physics World Stories podcast, the Cosmic Shed podcast and the Love and Science radio show.My writing sees me write reviews and feature articles, such as "The Asteroid Trillionaires" for Physics World. Aside from all that, I make and present live shows and events which mix comedy, theatre, music, film and science in a variety of different ways to engage people with each aspect.

See the white blizzards, dazzling blue oceans and vast wilderness of the South, watch the mighty polar bear, the haunting beluga whales and beautiful humpback whales in the company of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, a specially arranged score and immense screen.Scientists say the Arctic is changing more rapidly and acutely than anywhere on the planet; 2007 witnessed the lowest sea ice coverage in recorded history. Jacques Cousteau said that it's easier to protect what we love. This is a show that will make you love these increasingly fragile places.The premier concert took place at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool in January 2011. The concert features unseen film from the lands of the midnight sun, the score is arranged and conducted by John Harle.Polar is a family concert aimed at people from all walks of life and without language barriers. 70 minutes in total the concert is a performance of music and film only.
