Serving as the Clinical lead and co-author we ran an extensive research project on the My Health Record system, which involved a significant cohort of over 130,000 patients and more than 1,000 ED clinicians across four jurisdictions.Our research analysed the integration of My Health Record into hospitals' and jurisdictions' viewing platforms, as well as the design and structure of My Health Record documents. Qualitative and quantitative data of ED clinicians approaches to My Heath Record and analysis of the metadata of My Heath Record documents accessed gave key insights into clinician utility of bedside use of the national system. The resulting report encompasses over 30 recommendations and presents an adoption model tailored for hospitals, jurisdictions' health departments, and the Australian Digital Health Agency.As part of the project's collateral products, we collaborated with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine to produce and launch the "Emergency Department Clinicians' Guide to My Health Record." This guide serves as a valuable resource for ED clinicians, providing them with practical information and guidance on leveraging the functionalities of My Health Record to enhance patient care.Additionally, we compiled a separate report specifically addressing technical barriers that impede hospitals from effectively uploading documents to My Health Record. By highlighting these barriers, we aim to help drive improvements and facilitate seamless integration of vital patient information into the system. Show less

As the chair of a national cross-jurisdictional committee, I played a role in shaping the strategy for the Australian Digital Health Agency to optimize the utility of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care's report on My Health Record in Emergency Departments.

This peer-review role involved evaluating the quality, relevance, and significance of manuscripts submitted for consideration for publication in ACEM’s academic publication - Emergency Medicine Australasia.

Before the ACEM committee restructure in 2018, the Scientific Committee was responsible for the scientific and academic aspects of the college, including overseeing annual scientific meetings, developing, and implementing the curriculum, research, and training programs, and promoting high-quality research in emergency medicine.

ACEM’s Best of Web Emergency Medicine resource provides FACEM-reviewed online resources with advanced-search criteria for educational merit, complexity, and information quality. The platform includes target audience, curriculum framework domains, clinical speciality, themes, and media type.

The IT working group, comprising of Fellows of ACEM with a keen interest in technology and digital health, provided expert advice on the optimal utilization of technology in emergency medical care, training, and clinical research.
