I’m privileged to have the opportunity to engage with companies, on behalf of 2.3 million members, about Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues. By raising the bar on issues like climate change, workplace practices, diversity and effective governance and remuneration, we’re helping make companies better so we can create better investment outcomes for members.Creating real global change on systemic and emerging environmental and social issues takes commitment and collaborative action by like-minded investors, and I strongly welcome, and enjoy, working with peers and ESG networks.I’m passionate about the role that we, as asset owners, play in driving the low carbon transition in the economy. As a member of the Climate Action 100+ global steering committee and Investor Group on Climate Change, I am inspired by the genuine progress we’re making in driving corporate decarbonisation outcomes. Since publishing my research demonstrating the positive connection between ESG factors and shareholder returns more than 20 years ago, my career has focused on building and advocating for best practice ESG integration and stewardship programs.
