As a shop auditor, I have conducted shop and distribution centre visits nationwide to review performance and compliance within the company, communicating with several staff on a daily basis and producing reports and feedback to management. I have also worked as part of the Health and Safety Committee to review incident reports and monitor procedures.

As a Branch Manager, I have had to utilise all of my prior experience within the company in order to successfully manage and run a flagship company store with an annual turnover of more than £4.5 million and be directly responsible for a team of 15-20 members of staff.

In the role of Assistant Manager I have taken on a number of increased responsibilities and opportunities. Focusing upon areas such as reducing shrinkage and raising standards within the team and the store, my work has created a positive and lasting impact in two different stores within this role. Cash handling and investigations, man management, rota planning, staff reviews, cost control, productivity, merchandising and refitting stores are all areas that have been developed upon.

Having shown competence in the role of retail assistant, I received a promotion to the role of supervisor. The role requires a variety of skills and attributes, particularly interpersonal skills when managing shifts and the staff members. I also take responsibility for opening and closing the store, as well as dealing with customers, organising and working the stock, handling deliveries and counting, managing and banking the money.

Through this job, I have been able to build upon a number of skills and subsequently taken on further responsibilities. Working on the tills enabled an improvement in interpersonal communication and customer service as I strive to make the customers' experiences positive. I also became competent in manual handling and the use of mechanical equipment in order to replenish the stock on the shop floor.
