At MSEI I developed automated robotic systems for handling, assembly, and test of microelectronics for medical devices. My primary role was development of C# applications for factory automation, machine vision, and automated test, while supporting my equipment and software in a cutting edge factory environment. I worked with many different pieces of automation equipment and software including EPSON robots and EPSON RC+ software, NI LabView, Halcon machine vision software. PLCs, collaborative robots, mobile robots, and industrial cameras, In addition to production software development, I also designed mechanical hardware using SolidWorks, selected controls hardware for our applications, and wired the controls electronics for these systems.

I use cutting edge artificial intelligence techniques to control large multiagent systems. My current project focuses on modeling and control of a DOE power plant using some of these techniques.

During my work for this lab, I engineered automation solutions for the study of zebrafish and zebrafish embryos. I supervised 2 undergraduate employees and 6 engineering students to develop these solutions and develop an inexpensive micro manipulation robot for zebrafish embryos. I maintained 4 Denso SCARA arm robots, and tuned the vision system using Cognex software and cameras.
