At UHY my duties included new company incorporations (UK & Ireland), annual compliance, ad-hoc company secretarial services such as share transfers, board changes and voluntary strike-offs, as well as more specialised work such as corporate restructures.

During my time at HSF I have worked with a large number of well-known clients such as banks and other international corporations. My duties include the analysis and categorisation of evidence, compilation of case chronologies and assisting with ad-hoc tasks; more recently I have been working in the defence teams contesting two high profile group actions, both of which were featured in the media recently and one of which contains thousands of claims brought in jurisdictions all over Europe. I work closely with our team in London and have built up good working relationships with many colleagues within the firm.

In this role I carried out a wide range of company secretarial duties, including annual compliance for a large and diverse portfolio of clients. My duties also included new company formations, along with the execution of changes to existing companies such as changes of registered office, changes of officers, and changes to company Constitutions, among others. Additionally, I provided a wide range of services relating to company shares, including allotments and transfers, along with a range of more specialist tasks. A detailed knowledge of company law and a strong attention to detail were essential for this role.

When I started in this role I completed a project which involved the review and collationof evidence for an upcoming court case. I then moved on to an Anti-Money Launderingproject for a high profile client in February 2017, and worked on this for the remainder of my employment in this role. This project was one of the largest ever undertaken in the Belfastoffice, and a landmark project for the firm. It consisted of a KYC (Know Your Customer) remediation which involves analysing the Articles of Association, annual returns and annual reports of related parties all over the world, and relaying a risk score for each back to our client. This has equipped me with a truly global understanding of company law, and I am now familiar with the commercial registries of most countries worldwide. I have become adept in the use of Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel, as well as other forms of data entry. My verbal and writtencommunication skills improved while in this role, as well as my attention to detail andgeneral teamwork ability. As I progressed on the project, I undertook new responsibilities such as training new members of the team and assisting less experienced colleagues.

My duties included greeting clients on arrival to the clinic, booking appointments, dispensing medication and performing several administrative duties such as bank lodgements, dealing with telephone queries, and dealing with pet insurance claims. I have gained a wide range of skills from this job, including the ability to provide excellent customer service and complete tasks efficiently and effectively while working as part of a team, in what is often a very busy environment. Excellent communication skills were essential for this role.

I was accepted onto the Project Children Intern programme which provides work placements across the USA for Irish students. My internship involved clerking for Judge L. Scott Coogler for just over 2 months. This was an excellent experience through which I gained a fantastic insight into the US legal system and American culture in general.

I worked as a production operative in what was my first experience of full-time employment during the summer between the second and third year of my Law degree. My roles included working on a production line, organising stock to be sent to various sports stores across Ireland, and dealing with deliveries. Being an effective team member was an important attribute in this role, along with punctuality and a strong work ethic.
