Always happy to meet new people, discuss opportunities or challenges, and expand my network. I'm a problem solver at heart: I've found that whether I'm managing a team through a crisis, or writing code to increase the value of a business line, my calling in life is finding creative solutions to tough problems. I have experience in a wide variety of industries which gives me valuable perspective when approaching challenges. My personal philosophy leans towards breadth of knowledge rather than depth: I can connect the dots and keep focused on the big picture. I thoroughly enjoy a deep dive from time to time but overall I firmly believe that I play a more valuable role acting as a guide for my staff rather than getting in their way or doing things for them. As a leader I consider development of my team (especially key players) my top priority. If I give them the right guidance and knowledge it allows them to self-organize to a large extent which means I can focus on the longer-term strategic goals and feel comfortable that things are in good hands from a day-to-day perspective. I push hard for results but team member growth is a high priority. As an individual, I am constantly learning new skills and brushing up on existing ones. I read a new book at least once a month and stay up to date on tech trends via Reddit, Stack Overflow, Pluralsight, and other online learning sites, as well as attending in person group meetings for both software development and project management. I regularly volunteer for stretch assignments and reach out to colleagues to see how myself or my team can help improve their lives.
