Plank is a boutique digital agency that's been around since 1998. As a Senior Project Manager I was responsible for a wide range of tasks, from managing client accounts and project budgets, to content and UX strategy and coordinating design and development teams. Main responsibilities:• Team leader for execution of projects; I led internal teams of designers and developers to get websites and applications built to spec, using both traditional waterfall and agile methodologies• Content strategist and information architect; I led on overall project strategy and drive information architecture, wireframing, and user experience design• Primary client contact; I played a crucial role in initial project scoping and management of expectations; delivered status reports, collaborated on content needs, and generally kept clients happy, regardless of the state of their projectsSome accomplishments at Plank include:• Taking a leadership role in improving the company's production process, including its use of time-tracking and budgeting tools, resource planning, prototyping, and applying agile methods to projects where possible.• Designing an intensive discovery workshop for one of our clients, with the goal of improved project scoping and strategy.• Helping secure considerable grant funding for the production of a mobile application through extensive proposal documentation, and coordinating prototyping and database research.• Successfully persuading clients to adapt terms and workflow to better serve their projects (applying hourly rates for discovery, applying phased approaches, etc). Secret City Records is a small, reputable indie label that I helped get off the ground. I wore a myriad of hats in the ever-changing, now tech-oriented business—from managing social media platforms and various digital assets, to writing publicity copy and directing marketing campaigns. I navigated our artists and releases through the rise of iTunes, Facebook, Youtube, and Spotify all the while managing the production, design and manufacturing of the records themselves. • Managed label and artist social media properties, online promotion strategies; was responsible for helping build social media followings in the 100k range• Managed a number of digital projects, including label and artist websites and properties, and micro-site campaigns• Coordinated assembling of audio and packaging assets, music videos, digital meta-data, delivery to distribution partners—was the key person responsible for bringing more than fifteen albums from the recording studio stage to the record store• Wrote or oversaw all relevant copy (bios, press releases, website posts, newsletter, etc.), and approved all graphic design / artwork, directed publicists, planned media roll-outs and advertising buys—executed dozens of effective marketing campaigns• Responsible for writing and reconciling applications for public and private funding bodies including FACTOR (Canada Music Fund), Radio Starmaker Fund, SODEC—have successfully submitted and reconciled over 25 production and marketing grant files representing significant sums• Responsible for scouting and signing most of its core roster: Patrick Watson (2005), Plants and Animals (2007), Basia Bulat (2009) and The Barr Brothers (2011) among others.
