Responsible for implementation, installation, training and support of various enterprise installations of 121's range of vehicle routing applications including installations in UK, Russia, France, Germany, Poland. Also a beta tester for new release of RTS software.

Responsible for monitoring messages going across an EDI Network and informing clients of failures. Providing 1st, 2nd, 3rd line support for routing and scheduling software. Ensuring that filings had been sent to the Federal Maritime Commission and that the filings were viewable. Monitoring the customer support email folder and responding to emails accordingly ensuring that the clients SLAs were met.

My role involved visiting customer sites and servicing their PC & EPOS Equipment.Clients included: Boots, Safeway, Asda, Virgin, HMV, Rolls Royce, Homebase & Royal Bank of Scotland

September 1998 – October 1998: Siemens Commissioning Centre. Unpacking and then checking & configuring EPOS Equipment for Burton Group Stores. This involved loading the software onto the actual tills and then checking that all the till peripherals were working correctly and ensuring the server had access to all tills.October 1998 – December 1998: 2-Month Attachment to the British Army Training & Support Unit Belize as a Vehicle Electrician. Involved in the maintenance of vehicle electrical systems and I was also the first line support for electrical equipment used in the medical centre. Other duties included: being in charge of all the publications and ensuring they were kept up to date.January 1999- February 1999 : Worked through Aerotek agency at Marconi Communications as Product Support Engineer. Involved in the fault finding and testing of returned PCB’s from the customer.February 1999 – March 1999: Blue Arrow Agency working for Micro – Route, installing new servers into Midland Banks so that they were year 2000 compliant and ready for a new software infrastructure. I also upgraded Midland Bank workstations, so that they had either 32 or 48 M of RAM.March 1999 – June 1999: Voice Connect. Working on the Helpdesk assisting users with their problems on the phone and also remotely accessing their computer systems using RSM on NT4 and FTP and Telnet.July 1999 – September 1999: Working for Real Time Control installing EPOS equipment into various stores, i.e. Epson tills into Whittard Coffee shops, Siemens Nixdorf into CBS stores, IBM/Siemens Nixdorf into Adams stores and IBM into Comet stores.

Installing and bringing on line EPOS (Electronic Point Of Sale) tills for IBM at CO-OP Stores in Hull, Yeovil, Liverpool, Cheshire, South Wales, Cornwall & Outer London. This involved placing the tills into the correct place in the store and then checking that the scanners and scales were working correctly and that the server had access to tills and ensuring that CO-OP Head office in Rochdale had clear access to server. The last job I did at Micro-Route was to install new servers into Midland Banks so that they were year 2000 compliant and ready for a new software infrastructure, I also upgraded Midland Bank workstations, so that they had either 32 or 48 M of RAM.

Building, Testing & calibrating a range of pressure transducers.Also involved in bringing transducers onto full-scale production after they have been developed.

6-month attachment to the regular army in Bosnia, where I was involved in the maintenance & repair of PC’s and assist officers with their software problems. I was also the mapper administrator, which meant I had to liaise with HQ Land command at Wilton. (Mapper is a system up to secret level, which is used within Windows NT). I also used Land CSS which was a Windows NT based system which networked machines by Fibre Optic cable and Satellites between Bosnia, Croatia, Germany, UK & some Royal Naval ships.

Building, testing & calibrating a range of electronic instruments.The instruments included chart recorders, instruments for measuring vibration on railway vehicles, specialist railway instrumentation. Also involved manual production which detailed how to build & test the instruments. Also responsible for fault finding to component level on the PCBs used within the instruments, this was done using AVO & Fluke multimeters, Philips & Gould CRO’s & other measurement instruments.
