Was asked to join the Marketing Team for Proscar® for a special assignment to direct the national launch of the Urinary Symptoms Surveillance Project (USSP). The USSP was a project I created and developed while in the field to help address one of the core barriers to primary care physicians' use of Proscar®. The USSP was very successful in increasing primary care physician's awareness of the prevalence of urinary symptoms in men over age 50 and in accelerating new prescriptions for Proscar®. It was also a first of its kind at Merck and was cited as the most significant contribution to the marketing of Proscar® in 1994.
