Orchestrate the passage and defeat of legislation. Specialize in municipal affairs and state agency consulting. Manage a diverse client base of over forty (40+) clients ranging from local governments, utilities, health care companies and private corporations. Maximize the productivity of the firm by supporting the executives’ objectives, servicing clients, managing staff, implementing state policy, working with lobby teams, participating in PAC activities, advising on media relations, and strategizing public and political affairs.

Unilaterally built a diverse client portfolio from scratch ranging from energy companies, municipalities, animal rights groups, water recyclers, automotive manufacturers, and economic development corporations. Provided services on behalf of clients to pursue success in the following categories: public affairs, legislative advocacy, media initiatives, state agency proceedings, rulemakings and regulatory compliance.

Served as chief advisor to the Chairman. Chaired weekly board meetings with the other two (2) commissioners’ offices, the executive director, the ten (10+) division directors and staff to address policy issues, manage over 700 personnel, and oversee the agency with an $85 million annual budget. Implemented rulemakings, drafted state and federal committee testimony, speeches, presentations, media releases and responses; provided witness preparation and policy research.

Served on the energy and environment policy team overseeing the Public Utility Commission and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Tracked, analyzed and reported on over 300 pieces of legislation for vetoes. Coordinated with appointees and staff to effectively manage state agencies.

Advised on all legislative and political issues. Staffed the legislator as a Sunset Commissioner by reviewing the Department of Transportation, Department of Insurance, Racing Commission, Youth Commission, and the Parks and Wildlife Department. Clerked committee hearings on the Appropriations Committee to investigate the finance and funding of the Department of Transportation.

Worked on the gubernatorial task force on the business tax during Texas’ 79th Third (3rd) Special Legislative Session. Staffed the Appropriations Committee, the Calendars Committee, the Insurance Committee and the Special Committee on Reform of the Texas Youth Commission during Texas’ 80th Legislative Session. Served as campaign manager during the 2007 election cycle for Texas House District 130; the highest funded state house campaign during that election cycle; raised over $500,000.00.
