As my role has evolved, so has my title. I have passed off the title of "Review Team Lead" to a colleague, allowing me freedom to set deadlines, interface with upper management, and make lasting decisions.

I work with a small team to evaluate toys for their effectiveness at teaching children principles of Engineering Thinking and Design (ETD) and communicate said effectiveness to consumers. A toy that teaches ETD is included in the annual Engineering Gift Guide with a detailed review written on the Gift Guide's website. When not reviewing toys, I am searching for toys that show promise for inclusion in the next year's Guide.

Due to COVID-19, this internship was a 4-week, online program where I was grouped with a multidisciplinary "cohort" to complete case studies covering a wide variety of topics, from Construction to Ethics & Compliance. I also had, and took, the opportunity to learn from Bechtel's learning platform, Bechtel University.

FRC is an international program hosted by FIRST in which teams of high school students are given a challenge to complete by building a robot in six weeks. The teams then compete against and with each other in district, state, and world championships.As the team's electrician, I was responsible for ensuring that the electronics of the robot were configured correctly. In order to do this I had to work closely with the design team to ensure that there was a place to put all the electronics and the programming team to ensure that the hardware was configured to match their software and vice versa. My most significant contribution was as a project lead for our innovative "electronics box," which is a small enclosure housing all of the necessary electronic equipment. Should a problem arise, the entire control system can be replaced for a working copy in 2 minutes thanks to a quick-disconnect system connecting all external wires. This redundancy allows us to continue competing while debugging an electronics issue.As the team's safety captain, I was responsible for ensuring that everyone stayed safe while creating the robot. Shaving a day off of build time is never worth compromising safety.
