Research and development position collaborating in the mechanical design of energy devices to treat a variety of dermatological conditions.• Redesigned clinical investigational device to incorporate a patient-contacting, single-use component, allowing the device to be reused for multiple patients without contamination• Redesigned investigational device again, based on clinical learnings, to incorporate a new microwave antenna to improve efficacy and dermatological response• Developed and prototyped an iteration of the investigational device for commercialization, adding automation in 3 directions of motion with a force limited patient-contacting axis• Managed the machine shop, training engineers and technicians on best machine shop practices and advanced skills

Research and development position contributing to the design and development of minimally invasive hip restoration products.• Individually designed and managed the commercialization of 9 devices within 4 product families, including customizable arthroscopic cannulae, capsular ligament suture passer, arthroscopic blade and cartilage healing response technology• Collaborated in the design of 2 unique implantable bone anchor systems, focusing on physician interaction, delivery and deployment of the anchors• Led research of cartilage restoration and labral reconstruction, also a key member of a small team that researched robotic arthroscopic hip surgery• Fostered relationships with key physicians and gathered feedback regarding the evaluation of prototypes in cadaver labs and released product in the clinic• Provided sustaining engineering for all released products; evaluated customer feedback and performed redesigns to address product and manufacturability improvements• Developed procedure for repairing, maintaining and re-releasing used reusable devices• Built-up and managed machine shop, including the procurement of all tooling and machinery (including a 4-axis CNC machining center, two knee mills and a lathe) and implementation of safety protocols and training

Research and development position leading the mechanical design of a complex handle for the delivery of customizable drug-eluting stents.• Successfully redesigned handle to meet product performance goals, improved reliability by over 20%, entirely eliminated major malfunctions and reduced occurrence of minor malfunctions to less than 2%• Improved assembly and decreased costs in the handle by reducing part count, minimizing the use of adhesive through the design of press and snap fits, and removing second-operation machining through mold redesigns• Developed a completely new handle design for a single deployment product platform, aimed at a reduced molded part count, cost, complexity, assembly time, and increased ease of use and intuitiveness• Responsible for all R&D in-house injection mold design, and facilitated the troubleshooting and running of new R&D and production molds, working closely with experienced mold designers and polymer scientists
