As part of the Informal Sports team I strive to be a source of information for all participants. My purpose is to ensure that rules and regulations are enforced in all the cardio as well as strength and conditioning areas. Aside from teaching individuals about the gym, and its many uses, Informal Supervisors are also able, and encouraged to assist patrons in their work outs if assistance is necessary. Acting as a spotter and motivator not only ensures safety, but promotes an environment conducive to mutual respect, and positive communication.

While working at Frank Southern Ice Arena, a seasonal facility owned and operated by the Bloomington, Indiana Parks and Recreation Department; I was tasked with the responsibilities of shift supervisor. Responsibilities included operating and overseeing two P.O.S. stations, rink program and event registration, providing assistance and friendly Interaction, as well as coordinating events averaging 200 patrons in size.

Part of a five man crew based at Winslow Sports Complex in Bloomington, Indiana, weekly responsibilities vary based on field usage and weather considerations. Overall responsibilites include water removal and rain delay prepartation, field landscaping; including field edging, mowing and park entrance maintenance. Pubic restroom cleanliness and trash removal are also part of the job description; all of which are necessary to maintain a clean, safe and family friendly environment.

Preforms ball field maintenance, routine maintenance, game preparation, and cleanup on seven fields throughout the department.Supervise a three person maintenance crew in mowing, trimming, weed control, forrestry, as well as the cleaning, stocking and sanitation of public restrooms.Maintains detailed records of facility and equipment maintenance as required, as well as schedules and monitors major repairs to facilities and equipment as authorized by the Parks Superintendent.

While with the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department, I began working as a pool attendent before moving into the maintenance division where for the next seven years I was tasked with such responisbilites as diamond field maintenance, maintaining inventory of; equipment parts, fluids, and accessories. Diesel and gasoline engine maintenance, snow removal, park policy enforcement as well as sanitation and area beautification. Including gathering ground trash, emptying trash bins, and maintaining bathroom cleanliness.

An 11 week basic training course was completed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, followed by 21 weeks of advanced individual training (AIT) at Fort Gordon, Georgia. After returning to HHQ 384th MP Battalion in Fort Wayne, IN, I enrolled in ROTC at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, completing two years of the program before being honorably discharged in 2012 at the rank of E-4, corporal.
