Expanding on my information visualization and data science work, I transitioned over to Pembina during the wrap-up of Alliance. Our small team (all PhDs!) is actively working on machine learning algorithms towards a lofty goal of self-dispatched gas pipelines. Great to be part of an organization that is future-oriented.

Managing small teams of highly skilled technical professionals to deliver engineering analyses of complex vapour-condensate pipeline operations (along with the "run of the mill" facility sizing work).Pursued (and completed!) my PhD concurrently in the field(s) of information visualization, environmental assessments and regulatory law. Part of the research went towards a detailed review of major pipeline projects (e.g. Northern Gateway), mining projects and hydroelectric projects and how the environmental assessments used (or not!) information visualization practices. I never worked as hard as I did for 2U (our department) - I'm still proud of what our little group took on. Had side interests as Product Safety Engineer and Product Reliability. I still think Nortel had some of the smartest folks I've ever had the pleasure of working with.

I think back now to the interface design, integration with home telephony, and browser technology - we were too early in terms of delivering into the market (and in the end, the market went mobile). Good times after TCPL moved out from Toronto to Calgary. Applied the craft of disciplined simulation that successfully built out TCPL's system. Went after an MBA while at TCPL.

Edmonton

Jumped out of the EPC grinder to take on pipeline leak detection for IPL's pipeline system. Met up with some of my colleagues there almost two decades later - amazed to hear how far they had moved the simulation and monitoring techniques forward.
