I manage a portfolio, where my clients are typically small owner managed businesses up to 10 employees. I help their Directors/Shareholders by saving them tax, help grow their businesses and keeping them compliant with HMRC and Companies House (chasing them as appropriate!)A number of these clients are freelancers and contractors, and I am an expert in the 'IR35' (read employment status for tax purposes) rules.I am tasked with growing and developing this part of the business - in very challenging (and fee sensitive) times!My other Hillier Hopkins role is advising and moving clients onto cloud based accounting solutions such as Xero and Freeagent from the traditional spreadsheets and desktop products. Cloud is the future! These allow our clients to record expenses on the go, raise invoices to their customers anywhere, and get paid quicker.I am heavily involved in the project to move almost 300 contractors onto Xero, making them ready for the new Making Tax Digital requirements. Across the firm I also support Xero queries, and manage the subscription.
