I am an accomplished engineering and biotechnology leader with a successful record in the delivery of engineering programs, teams, and core technologies/IP to realise commercial, product, and manufacturing targets. I am skilled at working in dynamic cross-functional environments - particularly hardware, software and life sciences - managing technical workstreams, non-technical stakeholders, and fostering a culture of agile and collaborative change. I am adept at talent acquisition and performance management, with a strong focus on building high-performing teams. The research for my doctoral studies was in the field of experimental and numerical heat transfer and fluid dynamics, with the objectives being to characterise the thermal-hydraulic performance of a microscale single-phase heat exchanger for critical microelectronic components. The research was conducted with industry sponsors Nokia Bell Labs an industry leader in telecommunications R&D, under the scope of their Efficient Energy Transfer Research Group. During my undergraduate studies I also completed an 8 month internship with Abbott Diagnostics, an FDA regulated global healthcare company. Through the projects I completed during this placement I was awarded their annual national intern award.

Head Of EngineeringArcher Materials LimitedNew South Wales, Australia -
Head Of EngineeringInventia Life Science Sep 2021 - PresentSydney, New South Wales, Australia- Reporting directly to the executive team and responsible for overseeing engineering and product development strategies, ensuring transparent reporting on progress toward quarterly revenue targets for the RASTRUM bioprinter portfolio.- A member of the senior leadership team through multiple capital raises, as well as scaling and rightsizing rounds. As part of this, contributing to the successful transition towards cross-functional workstreams and the adoption of an Agile product development framework.- Led end-to-end engineering programs and change management initiatives, overseeing instrument lifecycle management, which included implementing infrastructure for continuous hardware releases, driving manufacturing Yield and reliability of the RASTRUM instrument fleet to over 95%, and the successful adoption of novel bioprinting instruments in pharmaceutical drug discovery pipelines.- Accountable for overseeing talent acquisition, retention, and performance management for engineers and product developers within the organisation. -
Senior Mechanical EngineerInventia Life Science Jan 2019 - Sep 2021Sydney, Australia- Successfully led the continuous delivery of product development outcomes from the engineering teamResponsible for the delivery of engineering strategies to ensure the timely completion of key milestones as the organisation progressed from seed round though Series A ($10M AUD) and into Series B ($40M AUD).- Established robust technical support processes which enabled the commercialisation of a beta version of a drop-on-demand bioprinter to enter the domestic Australian market, and to then expand internationally via a transition to remote software and technical support and diagnostics capability.- Actively collaborated with key accounts and research partners to translate feedback into product roadmaps. -
Mechanical EngineerInventia Life Science Nov 2017 - Jan 2019Sydney, New South Wales, Australia- Responsible for the design of a microfluidic dispensing printhead to realise complex high speed drop-on-demand creation of 3D cell models at scale - which was captured through the invention detailed here: https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/ad/f9/89/4182af0f433099/US20220118681A1.pdf.- Collaborate closely with application scientists and embedded systems engineers for the commercialisation of novel droplet dispensing core technologies and jettable hydrogels.- Drive product specifications for low-level driver infrastructure and UI for an in-house software stack. -

Student It SupportUniversity Of Limerick Sep 2010 - May 2017County Limerick, Ireland- Effectively conducted drop-in clinics in the university library to provide network and software support to students and staff- On call for the on campus student villages to troubleshoot and repair network connectivity issues -
Intern EngineerAbbott Diagnostics May 2011 - Jan 2012Aidd SligoDuring my internship I worked primarily in a project engineering capacity, and was afforded opportunities to work with the Energy, Facilities and Manufacturing engineering teams on a variety of different projects. Key tasks included:- Contributed to the preparation of ISO 50001 energy management accreditation documentation with the energy engineering team.- Developed service agreements between the facility engineering team and external contractors.- Prepared user requirement specification documents in order to outsource contracts to external contractors for competitive quotes.-Utilised science of human error training course to complete a solo project on the design and validation of the clean room laminar air flow units, which accomplished a predicted 76% reduction in energy use.As a result of the work conducted during my internship I was awarded the Abbott Ireland Intern award.
