Working within a business facing tough economic headwinds and long-term structural change, I am leading a transformation within the Procurement team. Cpo Marks And Spencer
CurrentReporting to the CFO at M&S, I have lead the transformation of the operating model and capability across the Procurement function within goods not for resale. I am leading a team across the Finance function to focus on increasing Working Capital. This involves working to ensure effective business processes and negotiating with the GNFR supply base to systematically deliver a positive cash position.I have also implemented a new risk framework with our third-party suppliers as resilience across the supply base takes on a new focus and importance in the post Covid-19 landscape.I have executed wholesale changes in process, team scope and governance, and implemented a business partnering model to increase engagement with the C-suite and key decision makers, and deliver transformation in costs across the business. Focusing on agility and category expertise to underpin an uplift in team capability. I have delivered a procurement team at the heart of the business, helping to drive real change at a time when the retail sector faces massive headwinds and standing still is not an option.
Director Of Business Efficiency & Group Procurement
Reporting to the Board I Joined ITV as part of a new management team to help transform a business that had an inefficient legacy cost base, with a remit to streamline processes and tackle group wide supplier and internal costs. I joined ITV as part of a new management team to help transform a business that had an inefficient legacy cost base, with a remit to streamline processes and tackle group wide supplier and internal costs.I made ITV agile and simple to do business with for our partners, while putting cost and operational productivity improvement on the daily agenda with key stakeholders. Prior to this I established an agile business partnering model within the Procurement team that was tailored to the diverse Broadcast and Studios businesses culture and targets, aligning the procurement strategy with the business strategy as the most effective way of delivering commercial outcomes.I have also delivered a Supplier Relationship Management process to deliver consistent performance from key partners and implemented a targeted innovation framework to harness new ideas from key partners.I also played a key part in re-engineering the Finance Operations team to deliver fit for purpose process within the P2P team.My team has commercial responsibility for all key commercial contracts including large long term broadcast and network outsource agreements, for among other things the satellite, playout and contribution/distribution network services.
Group Procurement Director
I transformed the Procurement function at ITV this transformation was achieved in three phases.Phase 1 - Fixing the BasicsI did this by building executive relationships. I refocused the team and by aligning my objectives with that of the business and recruiting leaders who understood key spend areas and hence could lead commercial discussions internally and externally. I introduced a balanced scorecard to effectively measure success.Phase 2 - People and RelationshipsTeam: I galvanised a discrete set of individuals getting them to buy into a new operating model and pull towards a common set of objectives. I gave the team a clear direction, and clearly connected what procurement did with the success of the business, in a Annual Engagement Survey I am in the top 0.8% (one of top 6 out of 500) of managers across business.Reputation: re-defined Procurement to be key in budgetary decisions and business planning. Procurement has grown its influence and now manages 72% of spend up from c.40% when I joined ITV, in a business where creativity is valued over process. Phase 3 - Breaking New Ground New procurement model in Broadcast & Studio management introduced to outsource post production. delivered streamlining of the supplier base and removed over £100m from the P&L over a 5 year period to enable investment in the ITV business. Savings are now reported as part of the annual reporting process and are a key contributor to the turnaround of the business. Procurement is now seen as a key part of ITV's success.

At Vodafone I was integral to the growing of the Procurement function, building a function from a green field to set-up to a sophisticated commercial operation of a fast moving digital business. I took over control of key network spend from finance delivering a supplier strategy that showed massive cost savings but also a structured approach to supplier management. Renegotiating a complex multi-year agreement with a strategic network provider that delivered £410m of bottom line savings to the business. The final 2 years was a global role, managing the transition from UK to a Global business working with executive stakeholders in acquired operating companies across Europe, negotiating Global Technology Agreements to deliver group wide savings.
