I'm fortunate to have led communications and engagement functions for a range of organisations and projects over the past 15 years.These professional experiences have brought some memorable 'exhale moments' over this time:- the joy and relief when a board signs off a five-year organisation-level strategy, after months of development and refinement- the stomach-feel of going live with a new website or social channel - as intense the first time as the two-dozenth- the cortisol camaraderie of a late night exec conference call, at the happy end of a two-day front-page crisis- the nerdy validation when a big piece of research or data lands that shows - beyond any doubt - "it's working"- a hundred human moments - one-on-one with members of staff and peers - being present for someone at their personal or professional best or worst.It has - as they say - been a journey. And a journey that has shown a great many ways in which an effective communications function can significantly contribute towards an organisation meeting its objectives.I'm passionate about my field, confident in its value, and keen to continue to demonstrate that in areas where it makes a difference.
