The role of the Observation Team Lead is a hands-on, highly visible position designed to impact on the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. Instrumental in improving the company’s training offer and enhancing the company’s reputation with key stakeholders to include OFSTED, awarding organisations and employers and learners. This is done by:1. Facilitating the provision of accurate graded observations of teaching, learning and assessment across the company, sharing best practice and areas for concern and recommending interventions to improve performance where required; 2. Co-ordinating an observation schedule in line with OFSTED and CIF criteria and notice periods; 3. Compiling a quarterly report that clearly identifies by region, areas of good practice and areas for development with recommendations on further improvements required and how such improvements can be achieved;4. Following up on all areas of improvement as identified through graded observations. To review the progress of TAs in conjunction with the respective QM/QA and line manager with the individuals concerned for any grade 3 and 4 observation results in a timely manner.

To maintain direct claims status for all delivery programmes assigned to within region/operations, in line with accreditation requirements and to support learner completions in line with company and external agencies requirements.

Lead Quality Improvement Advisor with Elmfield. Supervising a team of 6 Quality Auditors who conduct observation and audit activities over the various contracts Elmfield are involved with. Ensuring SFA compliance and Ofsted inspections are completed to a minimum Grade 2. This involves auditing of files for compliance and identifying errors, producing reports and feeding back to the Senior Management Team within Elmfield. Ensuring that the Quality Standard awards held by Elmfield are maintained and kept. Overseeing workshops and other Quality work to ensure there is continual improvement within Elmfield. The role sees me liaising with a variety of people across multiple contracts. This includes sub-contractors that we work with to Quality Assure their provision. I have had direct responsibility for the preparation of learner files for SFA inspections and am aware of the importance of safeguarding revenue. I have been directly involved in Ofsted inspections including those completed on Phones 4u, Vodafone and most recently, Elmfield itself. I also run Quality Awareness workshops with staff which has a focus on SFA compliance and best practice approaches. Recent merger with the IQA team has meant, from March 2012 onwards I am also responsible for 10 IQA, overseeing IQA practice on the various contracts for Elmfield and ensuring that the IQA strategy is in place and adhered to. I coach and train people in the business on various topics in either group or one to one situations. This includes compliance, Assessment coaching and correct completion of documentation, critical to the business.

Quality Auditor with Elmfield Training. Ensuring the continuing quality of all processes within Elmfield Training. Internally auditing Learner files, system processes and observing training practices. Assisting in OFSTED inspections to ensure continually high grades. Developing and implementing Quality documentation to assist with the running of the company including delivering training workshops to ensure staff understanding and compliance.

Internal Verifier with Elmfield Training. Verifying a team of Assessors in a variety of qualifications. Supporting, guiding them to achieve targets and maintain quality. Involvement in Quality Procedures, planning and implementation.

Shropshire

Assessor/Verifier with Telford College of Arts and Technology. Managing a caseload of 70 learners per calendar year. Ensuring timely completions of learners by visiting them in the workplace on a bi-weekly basis. Verifying a group of Assessors who deliver the Team Leading at Level 2 qualification.

Gloucester, United Kingdom

Trainer/Assessor/Verifier with JHP Training Ltd, Gloucester. Assessing in retail, management, team leading and customer service. Also trialled the support work in school qualification with four learners. Main contract was with RBS, Bristol; managing a caseload of 30+ learners who were doing the customer service apprenticeship qualification. I also internally verified Assessors in line with the companies I.V procedures.

South Of England

Regional Trainer with Wyevale Garden Centres PLC. Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering administration and procedural training to Wyevale centres in the South West. This was done via one on one training, group presentations and workshops.Compiling training materials to deliver to employees. Health and safety, Security, Customer service and key skills materials in particular.Providing NVQ provision for the region. Overseeing and helping NVQ candidates complete all aspects of their NVQ. Managing a caseload of 25+ candidates on a daily basis. Ensuring that NVQ assessing is being carried out correctly to national standards by way of the internal verification process.

South Of England

Epos Rollout Controller with Wyevale Garden Centres PLC. Implementing the new EPOS system into Wyevale stores across the country. Training all staff on the systems and procedures. Bar-coding and checking all stock prior to going live at the centre. Ensuring that the centres warehouse areas were labelled and planned ready for stock take. Ensured quality procedures were being adhered to and systems in place to support staff.The job involved staying away for 6-week blocks and adhering to strict time controls.
