Founding Engineer / Staff Software Engineer
Joined as engineer #3.Early on, I built foundational services and products, including a resilient email delivery system, partnership integrations, a reusable Design System component library, and web portal products for both our patients and therapists. I migrated our cloud platform from EC2 and Elastic Beanstalk to ECS.From the beginning, I helped to lead the technical direction at Rula. I drove adoption of a job processing framework and piloted the use of Nodejs over Rails, when Rails failed to meet our performance needs, which ended up changing our standard stack from Rails to Nodejs. As the team grew from 3 to around 50, my responsibilities grew as well. I expanded my impact by empowering team members to grow and take on more scope. My force multipliers included mentoring engineers, advising leadership, and managing critical and especially complex projects. My focus on identifying and reducing uncertainty early and often to head off project risk saved the company from burning cycles by providing clarity and focus on what was required to drive business value.I led cross-functional initiatives including a process to develop an SDLC, an initiative to ensure our systems were resilient to outages in dependencies, and rolling out an org-wide Reference Architecture based on Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, and Command/Query Responsibility Segregation. At the architecture level, I implemented a Transactional Outbox system to ensure reliable in-order event delivery without leaking sensitive data outside of our primary data stores. I also built a durable execution workflow orchestration system to improve our system's resilience.

Associate Consultant
As an Associate Consultant for Red Hat, I grew into a strong full-stack developer.I have successfully delivered multiple software solutions for various clients in industries including retail, banking, logistics, and mobile platform sales. When I joined the company I was immediately placed on a fast-paced, complex project where I quickly showed my ability to learn new technologies in very little time and to contribute to the overall success of the project. Having proven myself as a strong developer and having learned a full suite of development tools, I was given more responsibility with clients after this first project. I continually delivered high quality software that exceeded client expectations, having a key role in each aspect of development.
Software Developer - Intern
As a Software Developer Intern at Noblis, I gained a foundational understanding of professional software development while completing a project to showcase the capabilities of the Cray XMT2 supercomputer. My role on the team was to develop a Grails web application which interfaced with the Cray and displayed results of the supercomputer's computations to end-users. My performance so impressed my manager that my internship was extended through the end of the year, an offer which was not given to any of the other interns on my team. During this time, I built a C++ tool to analyze data from an online payment system.
