As a member of the Board of Directors for the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America, I play a critical leadership role in guiding the strategic direction and mission of the Council. I am responsible for ensuring that the Council operates in alignment with the principles and values of Scouting while maintaining fiscal responsibility and compliance with organizational policies and regulations. I collaborate with fellow board members to develop and implement strategies that support the growth and sustainability of Scouting programs within the Council’s territory. Additionally, I advocate for the Council by fostering relationships with donors, partners, and community stakeholders to secure the resources necessary for programs and operations. I serve as a visible representative of the Council, promoting Scouting’s mission and strengthening connections with local communities and organizations. By providing mentorship and guidance to Council leadership, volunteers, and professional staff, I help ensure Scouting goals are effectively achieved. My role is rooted in a commitment to advancing Scouting’s mission of preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives, building a strong foundation for the program’s future.

In the role of Matriculate Advising Fellow, the focus is on providing mentorship and guidance to high-achieving, low-income high school students throughout the college application process. Collaborating closely with the Matriculate team, responsibilities include conducting one-on-one advising sessions with students to assist them in navigating the college admissions process, including selecting colleges, completing applications, and applying for financial aid. Additionally, providing personalized feedback on college essays, resumes, and other application materials helps students present their best selves to admissions committees. Organizing and leading workshops and informational sessions on various aspects of the college application process, such as standardized testing, college research, and interview preparation, further enhances student preparation. Serving as a resource and advocate for students involves addressing any questions or concerns they may have and connecting them with additional support services as needed. The goal of the Matriculate Advising Fellow role is to empower students from underserved backgrounds to achieve their academic and personal goals, while fostering a culture of access and opportunity in higher education.
