My time at Victoria University (for DWS) was working in the Facilities team on a Timetabling Project, the goal of this project was to address fragmented and inconsistent timetabling processes across the 8 Colleges within Victoria University by adopting a constraints based timetable model, standardising and streamlining timetable preparation, improving the availability of timetable information and developing efficient practices and procedures to manage and maintain changes to the timetable.As the Snr Business Analyst on the team, my tasks included developing Business and Solution Requirement documents, process engineering, timetable data analysis, reviewing Policy documents and developing a breach management procedure as well as developing user manuals and training material and conducting User Acceptance Testing and Business Verification Testing.

During my assignment at NAB with DWS I worked on three major programs of work:1. Smart Systems project - This project comprised the design and implementation of the following services: Enterprise Resource Reservation (including Meeting Booking Panels); Administrative Management of Resource Reservations; enhancements to existing Digital Way finding; Service Management; Remote Monitoring; and, analytic reporting. This project involves implementing a 3rd party application with both Lotus Notes and Exchange.2. Financial Claims Scheme - This project involved implementing the guidelines and regulations supplied by APRA to ensure NAB is compliant under the APS910 standard. My scope within the project was to conduct an impact assessment on the existing payment streams against the End of Day guidelines and rules set out by APRA. In the event of an FCS scenario certain transactions would not be processed and ‘in-flight’ transactions would need to be reviewed, this meant reviewing how we currently process all transaction types within NAB and with our Agent Banks to see the impacts and gaps that the project would need to address. Alongside reviewing transaction processing I also needed to review shutting down NAB’s client facing payment channels.2. Metrics that Matter - The Metrics that Matter initiative, was being run by NAB Lending Services, its goal was to strengthen the Lending Services reporting that is currently being sourced from 18+ data sources. The scope of this project was to provide a new Business Intelligence reporting platform, running off a ‘single source of truth’, providing self-service reporting for authorised users and defined data cubes to metrics staff for enhanced data analytics.

My role at Kiandra IT has required me to step into a similar role and situation I had with Next Digital, in that I entered a Software Development environment that has never used Business Analysts. Over the past year I have worked on implementing a standard process within our team what fully utilises our business analysis capability across all our clients, as well as internally. I work with some of the most knowledgeable and driven staff I have ever known, from both management through to our developers, that has made this process very smooth and open.While working at Kianda I lead the initiative to achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification, after which I then took on the role of Quality Manager. During my time at TPTL I work closely with the IT Manager to deliver quality ‘fit for purpose’ IT system across all areas of the company from Funds Management to Estate Management. Working for Logica CMG in Tasmania was a fantastic opportunity as it provided me the opportunity to move beyond my software background and expand into more enterprise level activities. Logica maintain two core contracts with Aurora Energy and Hydro Tasmania, providing IT support and infrastructure activities. I started out working for ResultMedia as a content administration before moving into a business analyst role. During my time as a business analyst I worked on both our internal application (Mailout) and all client software work. As I progressed through my role I developed new standards of documentation and processes that were implemented internally.ResultMedia were then acquired by Next Digital (Previously known as WDG). At this time NextDigital did not have any BA resources for the 30+ developer resources they had. Coming into this situation as a business analyst, introducing a new role to the company was hard.
