Brace yourself for a wild ride.If you would have told me five years ago that I would have been working in project management and analytics, I would have laughed you off as I stood in the kitchen of a very well known Mexican eatery (guac is extra!), wrangling avocados and college kids alike. My journey hasn't always been straightforward, but my desire and passion have driven me to numerous accomplishments I never would have thought were possible. Though I was happy, I knew I wanted more. I wasn't sure where I wanted to go or what to do, but I knew that I would have to lay down my trusty avocado masher, say goodbye to the crew I had fostered, and find my way to fulfillment. That next step led me to Sharp Healthcare, because everyone knows that the next logical step after mashing avocados is to work in healthcare. I found myself in a completely new industry, on a new team, and working in a field in which I knew little about. What I did know was that I was easy to adapt, I could communicate effectively, and that I was resourceful and organized. It was these characterisitcs that led me to discover my calling. It's a running joke in the world of project management that every little thing in your life becomes a challenge to become more efficient. I found myself analyzing various processes that I knew could be improved. Making a salad, checking patients into Urgent Care, or managing my time better; I realized that in the grand scheme of things, it was all the same. If there was a process, I could improve it. After I found my spark, I worked tirelessly to improve. I spoke with seasoned project managers in various industries for advice and to help set my trajectory. With the support of my leaders, I was able to work my way through various roles. I became proficient with many tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project. Before I knew it, I was implementing new processes, working on projects of various scales and scope, and managing teams.My efforts garnered the attention of several individuals within Sharp Healthcare, and for that I was recognized with several awards. These included employee of the month, quarter, and later an award by the Sharp Center of Recognized Excellence. Our team was recognized for our efforts to keep staff safe in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. These days I find myself enthusiastically searching for more ways to improve both professionally and personally. I know that my passion and drive will lead me to much more! Are you coming for the ride?P.S. I've been told I still make amazing guacamole.
