The Crew is Trader Joe’s heart and soul. As a member of the Crew, you do a little of everything—and handle a lot. So does everyone along with you. Working the cash registers, receiving and unloading deliveries, stocking shelves, building displays, cleaning the floor, answering questions about Trader Joe’s products, and just generally making sure that every customer has a fun, friendly and informative shopping experience.

During my tenure volunteering as the Executive Director and President, I achieved many career milestones. I organized the first-ever Environmental Commission & Committee Symposium; grew our social media audience to more than 2,600 followers; delivered lectures at North Central College, College of DuPage, Elmhurst University, The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, the Wild Things conference, WDCB Radio, libraries, schools, and local governments; implemented the “BIPOC Stories in the Suburbs” garden-art gallery and storytelling exhibition in coordination with Mutual Aid DuPage; filmed/edited the documentary “Hooplah,” and moderated a food apartheid community roundtable after the debut with leaders from The Citizen Advocacy Center, the DuPage County Board, the DuPage Chapter of the NAACP, and the Loaves & Fishes Food Bank; partnered with Northern Illinois University and the United States Embassy in the Philippines for the Philippine Youth Leadership Program, provided oversight and guidance for graduate student applied research, and so much more. I will forever treasure with deep gratitude the lessons I gathered from this incredible chapter of my life and think back upon the many warm memories with great fondness.

Mayneland farm is a diversified small-scale suburban farm that grows a diverse multitude of crops. Annual and perennial vegetables and fruits are grown on the farm, as well as chickens. My duties include cultivating, planting, tending, farmstand work, tractor driving, and much more.

•Managed the tracking of recycled material for a national ($7M) medical supply account. •Processed material data for entire account. •Spotted anomalies in data.•Worked with vendors to ameliorate mistakes.•Ensured that billing is running in line with international pricing trends for each material stream.

•Developed the "Prairie Patch Pilot Project." •Worked with local business Midwest Groundcovers to coordinate their donation.•Oversaw the implementation of the Grease Recycling Program for Lombard, IL.•Translated Literature into Spanish.•Implemented graphic design for logo enhancement and outreach.•Managed community service workers and volunteers.•Led community tours and environmental education days.

On Chris Duke's farm we learned how to run a biodiverse farm (pigs, cows, sheep, horse, chickens, mixed vegetable and herb production, silvaculture, beekeeping, etc.) and also a great deal of historical agricultural practices. Chris has a goal to utilize no fossil fuels on his farm, and to that end I was trained in how to cultivate the fields with Dolly the horse. This experience was life-changing.
