Coordinating, planning and executing the verification program for Land 121 Phase 3B, the Australian Army's medium and heavy weight logistics vehicle program.My responsibility is direct management of the verification of the three lead vehicles in the Land 121 project. This includes:- Responsibility for the verification of each specification requirement through the collation of exisiting evidence or by conducting tests- Coordinating vehicles, test equipment, resources and facilities to ensure completion of the verification program within the scheduled time frame- Development of test procedures, conduct of tests and completion of reports- Managing the various stakeholders involved in the verification progress including the user (Australian Army), the customer (Commonwealth of Australia), the design and engineering team, the production team, various sub-contractors and senior management

Xtrac design and manufacture transmission solutions primarily for motorsport as well as for general automotive, defence and aerospace customers. Thei customers range from F1 teams through to the Defence agencies. My primary role in the R&D Department was to assist in the development of and to characterise the range of materials used by the company. In this way accurate materials data could be produced for use by the design and analysis engineers. This work included mechanical testing of materials, fatigue testing of materials and bespoke testing of gearbox components to determine the material behaviour in a demanding environment and assist with further development of both materials and components.Additionally I was tasked with performing long term research projects to assist in further developing current and future transmissions. This included experimental stress analysis to aid the refinement and improvement of the FEA work conducted by the analysis group. This work involved developing a test method which would allow for loading a gearbox as close to real life as possible and measuring stresses through the use of strain gauges. In performing this work I gained accreditation for the application of strain gauges, data acquistion from the gauges and analysis of the data from the British Society of Strain Measurement.My work also included failure investigations, development of bespoke transducers for the measurement of car data and performing in-car testing of gearboxes to assist in development.

Accredited Test Services are the testing arm of the Australian Department of Defence. Their goal is to perform rigorous testing of all equipment which is to be used by the Australian Defence Force before it enters service and to assist the department in developing equipment, determining which equipment to purchase and making improvements to equipment already in service.My role in the Mechanical and Environmental Laboratories was to perform a range of tests on everything from whole Vehicle Systems down to personnel body armour. Standard testing conducted included noise, vibration and handling of vehicles, performance of weapons in harsh conditions, sound pressure measurements of artillery, performance of vehicle and body armour against various ballistic media and environmental testing of electrical equipment. For each test I was in charge of developing the test in conjunction with the customer, conducting the test in a rigourous and precise manner, analysing the data and providing the findings and recommendations back to the customer.A major long term project I was heavily involved in was the Human Survivability testing of vehicles subjected to mine blasts. This involved the purchase and use of fully instrumented ATD's (crash test dummies) for controlled blast testing of vehicles.

ResMed is a medical device company that specialises in the design and manufacture of systems for the treatment of sleep apnea. I joined as a student during the summer of 2007/2008 and continued to work for ResMed during my final year at university.I was involved in a number of different projects during my time, including th design of a retention system for a next generation nasal mask. I also worked closely with the materials department performing a variety of testing of the various polymers used by the company. This ranged from mechanica testing through to biocompatability studies to assist application for approval from the TGA and FDA.
