I am Senior Lecturer in Contextual and Theoretical Studies (CTS) in the Design School at London College of Communication and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA, 2020).In 15 years of teaching in Higher Education my focus has been on developing inclusive curricula that addresses decolonisation and intersectionality through active-learning and writing as practice methods. My career as a graphic designer began at CDT Design in the mid 1990s, on projects for Benenden School, Design Council, The Earth Centre, Royal National Theatre, Our Price Music, South Bank Centre and Volkswagen UK. At Lloyd Northover clients included BNFL, UBS, The Millennium Commission and SITA. As a founding partner in Unleaded Design with Henrik Bodilsen, I worked for art galleries, local councils and publishers and for many years with the Royal Society of Arts’ Hospitality and Student Design Awards.As a graphic designer I am concerned with the visual organisation and presentation of information using a systematic methodology informed by the teachings of Armin Hofmann, Emil Ruder and Wolfgang Weingart (Basel) and Geoff White (Ravensbourne). I hold a PGCE with Distinction (University of Essex, 2013), an MA with Distinction in Design Writing Criticism (London College of Communication, 2010) and a First Class BA (Hons) in Visual Communication Design (Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, 1995).I am the External Examiner MA Graphic Design for the Open College of the Arts (2024–2028) and was the External Examiner for theory units on BA (Hons) Graphic Design at University for the Creative Arts (2019–2024) and the University of Westminster (2015–2019).
