Since COVID19 shook up our world in 2020, this last 3 years has been a real rollercoaster ride – many negatives interspersed with some positives and learnings. One of the most significant developments is many more people and businesses realising that they are in a position to make a positive impact on society by becoming more purpose-led in everything that they do.I believe that we all need to use our skills and networks for the betterment of the environment and society – I have a desire to leave a positive legacy for my children’s generation and beyond. Creating opportunities for all children to access a quality education is one of the best ways we can tackle inequality in the world. One of the most impactful ways to create change is to enter into meaningful partnerships with individuals or organisations that have shared values and purpose. We saw so many examples of this throughout the pandemic from all over the world. My role at the V&A Waterfront is to identify companies and brands that are aligned to our purpose and see the benefit in entering into long-term relationships which will result in a positive impact on society and contribute towards achieving business objectives. Having already built successful partnerships with the likes of Coca-Cola, Mastercard and Mercedes-Benz, I am currently working on partnerships for Makers Landing, our food incubator and food-prenuer project based at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal, as well as the Two Oceans Aquarium Education Foundation, which has a number of projects requiring funding ranging from the turtle rehabilitation programme to programmes that educate children on the importance of keeping our oceans healthy.Sustainability is one of our core business pillars and there are opportunities for collaboration in this area and there are also a number of other commercial partnership opportunities both B2B and B2C. We can tailor-make a partnership package to meet budget and business objectives.
