Andrew D. Smith MD, PhD is a nationally recognized academic Radiologist and Oncologic Imager at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He is a faculty member and Chair of the Department of Radiology. Dr. Smith’s clinical areas of expertise are in abdominal and oncologic imaging, and he is a leader in innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) in imaging and medicine.Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the Society of Advanced Body Imaging and the Society of Abdominal Radiology, where he co-chairs the Emerging Technology Commission on Artificial Intelligence. An inventor on thirty patents, Dr. Smith has led FDA 510(k) clearance on multiple imaging technologies. He is a co-founder of AI Metrics, a medical technology company that has developed the world's first FDA-cleared augmented intelligence viewer and reporting system for advanced cancer. Dr. Smith also founded Radiostics, an imaging clinical research organization focused on AI development and validation and Body Check, a medical technology company with FDA clearance of fully automated AI algorithms for opportunistic screening of cardiovascular diseases and patient care coordination.Dr. Smith believes in the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology, imaging research and pediatric medicine.
