I have worked in manufacturing and distribution most of my career. I have skills in many manufacturing techniques such as electronic data interchange (EDI), KANBAN, Just-In-Time, Total Quality, statistical process control (SPC), lean manufacturing, and process management.I work with a variety of computer systems such as Oracle, JD Edwards, JBA, MAPICS, and BPCS. I am proficient in databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB/2, and Access. I work in the Windows environment as well as the IBM AS/400 and mainframe platforms. I program in .NET, VB, Access, RPG, COBOL, FORTRAN, and PL/SQL. I also write customizations for Dynamics and Sage Accpac.

I first worked on an EDI Y2K project for a division in Aurora, IL. This entailed upgrading EXTOL EDI maps to version 4010, which was Y2K compliant. I then worked on an upgrade of the JBA software package for the same division.A second division needed assistance to stabilize its EDI transactions with JD Edwards, I developed maps for ASN transactions and debugged issues with the transactions.A third division was moving its product line to Mexico and I worked on converting the customer files and inventory files from JBA to JD Edwards.

I led a project to convert the Westinghouse St. Louis Assembly business system from an IBM 4300 COPICS system to an IBM S/38 MAPICS system. This project incorporated manufacturing techniques such as KANBAN, statistical process control (SPC), Total Quality, Just-In-Time, electronic data interchange (EDI) and process management.This project received the 1989 Westinghouse Information Systems Advisory Council Award.

El Paso, Tx

I installed an IBM S/36 running MAPICS to automate the business systems at the Apparatus Repair Division, located in El Paso, TX. The system supported a "twin plant" in Juarez, Mexico.I implemented a new inventory system from Marcam, and was named Marcam's Customer of the Month in November, 1985, for my assistance in identifying and solving problems with the software.As the U.S. division at the plant was fairly small, I doubled as the HR manager as well. I provided the standard monthly reports needed by headquarters, and also contracted with an instructor from the University of Texas El Paso to teach Spanish to the staff.

London, Ky

I managed the computer department at the Automatic Transfer Switch Plant in London, KY. I was responsible for providing drawings to the shop, as well as training staff on new software being implemented. Our products were sold by manufacturers' reps and the Westinghouse order entry system (Apparatus Marketing System [AMS]) was used by the reps to enter sales orders for our plant. I developed a training program for the reps to teach them how to use the Westinghouse Order Entry System and traveled to the reps' sites to conduct the training.

Pittsburgh, Pa

I was a Senior Systems Consultant with the Industry Equipment Group in Pittsburgh, PA. My main task was to provide support to new plant start-ups. I would oversee the installation and operation of the computer and software until a manager could be hired for a new plant.During my tenure I developed simulation routines to identify the optimum KANBAN quantities for parts. I also served on the design team to develop the first automated warehouse within Westinghouse.

A new group had been formed to work on a project to replace the existing Westinghouse order entry system (Tele-Order Processing System [TOPS]) . I became a member of this project group as a Senior Systems Analyst and Programmer for the Marketing Support Division in Pittsburgh, PA.This division was upgrading its computer hardware from a UNIVAC computer system to an IBM system. My team worked with 52 manufacturing divisions and 350 sales offices to determine the requirements for the new system. We created a plan for developing the new system and then implementing each division and sales office based on the type of business it did. The system included modules for order entry, order processing, inventory control, and invoicing. We used two Cincom software packages for system development: the Total database management system; and the Environ/1 communications package. I presented a paper at the Cincom KnockAbout in 1979 on the use of checkpoint/restart facility.

South Boston, Va

I accepted a position as a Systems Analyst and Programmer with the Small Power Transformer Division located in South Boston, VA.The division was converting its computer system from a Burroughs B2500 to an IBM 135. I served as a member of the conversion team to convert about 250 COBOL programs. I was sent to IBM school to become a systems programmer. I would then perform the system generations (sysgens) for installing and upgrading the operating system software. I wrote assembly language programs to handle user exits from the operating system. I was also called upon to improve the efficiency of long-running programs. I worked with the corporate IT staff to replace our teletype devices with CRTs. I became the database administrator for the Total database management system.
