I worked as part of a agile scrum team on the DB2 Performance monitoring tools which included Detector, Subsystem Analyzer, Thread Terminator, and Xmanager. I was responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and documenting product features as well as supporting the products overall in handling customer issues. During my time there I re-designed and implemented one of the biggest changes to the products since their creation. I Took on the responsibility to mentor and train new team members on many topics ranging from product, DB2, and z/OS knowledge to design and problem solving skills.While I was there the scrum team faced a lot of scrutiny on the quality in certain areas of the products and our ability to test changes thoroughly and accurately. Coupled with the fact that the overall IT and mainframe markets were drastically changing requiring the legacy products to stay competitive.I Took the initiative to solve the quality and testing issues by developing two successfully adopted testing frameworks. One framework simplified the continuous development and execution of SQL needed to properly test the products code paths. The second being a robust keyword driven test automation framework that could interrogate and validate all 263 uniquely collected DB2 metric data. This automation framework, written in python and interfaced using JSON, was designed to allow easy expansion of features, ability to scale with the amount of SQL workload executed, integrated to use our SQL execution frameworks, and was deployed on a Jenkins server for continuous integration capabilities.

As an associate my responsibilities were to learn as much as I could about the system and the products that I work on. With the products being a performance monitor for DB2, there is no roadmap on bringing performance data out of the internals and exposing it to the users. So it was very important to learn how DB2 works from the outside in, in order to understand the data and the way a DBA wants to see that data. Additionally I was responsible for designing and coding enhancements to those products that customers want.

I worked as an order filler in a main Distribution warehouse located in Princeton,IL. My job was simply to drive a vehicle called a tugger around the warehouse picking up items to organize in as few crates as possible to be loaded onto trucks.
