As an independent Software Consultant: Part of a team developing an interface between mortgage system and web service to calculate taxes and fees to meet new federal guidelines. Succeeded in meeting a strict and tight deadline for implementing the services. Work was done in Progress 4GL to communicate with Java portlets, using XML.

In Software Services Department, was successful in executing several large projects and numerous smaller ones to meet a wide variety of customer needs in all areas of accounting, production, planning and service solutions. Designed and successfully implemented a mobile RF inventory tracking system that greatly improved customer’s ability to monitor the locations of hundreds of vehicles throughout several lots and customization facilities.When a relatively young Software Products Department began plans to migrate a Service Maintenance product to a new ERP solution, was selected as the primary developer. After that project was completed successfully, continued work on various product enhancements and technical support of products on all supported platforms.When Services Department landed an opportunity to design and develop a rule-based Quote Configuration system to replace a competing product, was chosen to design the system and lead the development. The initial customer has been using the system for over two years now, with 300 model configurations producing over 2,000 quotes, culminating in more than 1,500 orders so far. Customer is very pleased with the quality and speed of the delivered system as well as with the savings, which exceeded $30,000 in the first two years.Moved from Software Services back into the Product Development Department to enhance that Quote Configuration system to meet expanded requirements and integrate it with our ERP solution. Continued to provide enhancements to all modules of ERP solution and Mobile components, including a major version / toolset upgrade of the full ERP solution.

Managed IS/IT roles in a project to migrate Small Compressor Division’s ERP systems from a mainframe to client/server relational database system. Primary concerns involved the planning, analysis and development of multiple interfaces with new and existing external systems, using a variety of tools such as Progress, PowerBuilder, Unix scripts, etc. Project was completed successfully, on-time and provided end users with a system that was far more flexible, efficient and easy to use.In project to move from mainframe and mid-range systems to client-server development, evaluated source code control issues, established standards and implemented a system for in-house software development and production cut-over.

When the corporation sold the plant in Pleasant Garden, NC, was one of only two people retained. Was transferred to a plant in Kentucky to install and implement the division’s first LAN, consisting of over 100 nodes, two Novell servers, two Unix database servers, a FAX server and numerous print servers. Following that success, lead IS/IT in project to transfer division’s primary business systems from remote mainframe to local client/server ERP system. This implementation likewise met with great success.Installed, maintained and supported a workgroup of Unix workstations for Engineering Department. Developed software to enhance 3D modeling and structural analysis. Set up and coordinated an Intranet of HTML and VRML documents to aid in real-time dispersal of engineering project designs and systems.

Provided all IS/IT functions for small, recently acquired manufacturing plant. Set up, configured and maintained a Unix server, networks of PCs and Macintoshes, and links to remote midrange and mainframe systems. Controlled selection, installation and maintenance of hardware and software. Meeting a tight schedule, successfully modified software systems to meet corporate standards and needs.

As part of a small business software company, designed and developed accounting and inventory systems for businesses and provided customer support and training in applications and operating systems. Also performed hardware installation and maintenance and installed and maintained operating system and application software on various Unix, Xenix and NetWare systems.

Received two Army Achievement Medals in two years of active duty, and was honorably discharged after completing service. Primary MOS was operating Data Telecommunications systems. Designed, developed and implemented a personnel database and the process documentation to greatly improve battalion processing efficiency for the 11th Signal Brigade.
