My first stint as an entrepreneur came at the ripe age of 10. Remember hubcaps (wheel covers)? Did I date myself? Sigh…My dad lost the hubcap on his car and had to pay $35 for a replacement when he went to the dealership. Less than a week later, he found his old one in a ditch, and retrieved it as insurance lest he lose another one. The moment sparked an idea - there must be others like us!Enter my first “business” endeavor.  My father and I would drive around freeways in Detroit picking up hubcaps, and I would sell them at a  “storefront” - think plywood with some hooks on it to display my merchandise - in an empty parking lot on the weekends.  My mom came by a few times daily to pick up the wad of cash I collected.  From there, it was years of grass cutting and snow plowing, hustling to put myself through 4 years of college at MSU and accelerating my life as an entrepreneur. I love the challenge of taking a business from a simple idea (thought) to a thriving entity that not only produces an income for me and my family, but other people. There is nothing better than working with and building out an outstanding team, and collectively developing  relationships with prospects and clients.  To be successful, you have to approach sales from two directions; bottom up and top down. Both the C-suite and the mid level managers. The owners and their assistants.  I call this the little fish and big fish approach. You need the minnows for basic survival, but if you really want to hit it out of the park, reel in the whales.  I have been extremely lucky over the years to have built out relationships with a lot of whales;  VW, Chrysler, Valvoline, Castrol Oil, Midas, Ford. Today, my most current business; Drone Brothers, works with and helps educate 5 of the top 20 largest General Contractors in the nation on the benefits of drone technology. They rely on us to help educate their teams on the value of drones to give them a competitive advantage in the marketplace.  When I am not in the field, I’m usually at home with my wife, 4 kids, and a 2nd of hopefully many grandchildren, or partaking in some leisurely activity like yoga, biking and hiking.  In the summer months, you can find me in my mobile office (camper), working from state and national parks across the country. I find that balance is key to making it all work.
