Vice President, Lead Portfolio Manager - Wells Fargo, Beverage Finance
Current- Directly responsible for portfolio management of nearly $2B credit portfolio, primarily consisting of leveraged loans to beverage distributors/manufacturers. - In past two years alone, underwrote and structured loans representing > $1B in new loan commitments, generating > $5MM in upfront fees and > $20MM in recurring interest income.- Work directly with CEO/CFOs to understand capital needs and structure/underwrite related credit facilities. Partner with Wells Fargo’s Derivatives, Debt Capital Markets, and Treasury Management teams to help solve clients’ broad banking needs.- Prepare and present Enterprise Value and Debt Structuring/Repayment analyses to Wells Fargo’s credit management team.- Serve as lead underwriter on many of the team’s largest and most complex transactions. Examples include: (a) > 35 lead or sole-bank leveraged credit facilities of $50MM-$250MM to beer distributors for M&A and shareholder recapitalizations, (b) multibillion-dollar lead-bank credit facility to a private spirits manufacturer to support M&A, (c) > $100MM sole-bank credit facility to a private non-alcoholic beverage manufacturer for growth projects.- Created/authored multiple special projects, including: (a) proprietary beer distributor M&A database for use in client and Wells Fargo management meetings, (b) white paper examining the impact of Wells Fargo’s existing risk-rating system on beer distributor loans; recommended an alternative industry-sector ratings grid specific to beer distributors, (c) extensive beer industry presentation delivered to Wells Fargo senior management covering distributor benchmarking metrics, M&A trend analysis, and post-transactional leverage analysis to highlight transactions with large forecast misses to identify best practices and common errors. - Mentor junior credit staff, including creating and leading classes on modeling, financial analysis, etc.
