The University of Saskatchewan Aero Design Team (formerly known as the U of S Sundogs Aero Design Team) is a student run organization which designs, builds, and flies payload lifting, radio controlled aircraft to compete in the SAE Aero Design Series each year. This year the team will compete in the SAE Aero Design East competition in Fort Worth, TX, USA. My responsibilities on the team are as follows: - design the front and rear landing gear for the plane while considering durability, weight, and dampening effectiveness- compose technical summaries to be included in the competition report- assist in the construction of two flight worthy prototypes to be used for competition and testing purposes- present technical information related to the design of the wing and tail sections as well as manufacturing as part of the SAE stage presentation in Fort Worth, TexasOur team's performance in the 2018/19 season is as follows:SAE Aero Design East Competition placement: - 7th of 50 international teams, with 6th for report & 9th for presentation. Team records:- Doubled the previous max payload by lifting 26 lbs, previous highest placement was 12th

Engage with a multidisciplinary group of students to study the public perception challenges facing ARC and the energy industry to provide recommendations for what a company the size of ARC can do to address and inform all stakeholders to change public perception. Some of my specific responsibilities include: - Conduct industry research alongside as a team of 5 students with backgrounds in engineering, public relations, and environmental sustainability to understand public perception and misconceptions. - Meet with ARC leadership and senior department managers to discuss company wide initiatives that improve and address issues in the oil and gas industry.- Deliver a summary report to ARC leadership and employees, a presentation to ARC's senior leadership team including the CEO and COO, and provide a learning series presentation to smaller departments within ARC to share project findings. - Engage with an ARC advisory team as well as an educational team to gain a deeper understanding of the perception of the oil and gas industry. - Collaborate with advocacy groups such as Canada Action to formulate strategies to effectively communicate with ARC stakeholders. - Engage with an engineering mentor to forge a supportive relationship and discuss issues throughout the project.

The Science Ambassador Program pairs senior university science, engineering and health science students with rural and remote Aboriginal community schools, to support creative and culturally-relevant science teaching and learning. Science Ambassadors work alongside teachers to present hands-on science activities, facilitate class discussions and mentor students exploring possibilities for careers and continuing education.A key feature of The Science Ambassador Program is the length of time that our Science Ambassadors spend in the community, 4-6 weeks over a school year. The program strives to build meaningful connections between the Science Ambassadors' activities and community priorities, and to establish long-term relationships with the University of Saskatchewan.I had the opportunity to teach science to students at the Stony Rapids Community School (SRCS). Beyond doing experiments and demonstrations with the students in the classroom, my role extended into the community where I had the chance to learn aspects of the Dené culture from elders and knowledge keepers.
