With turnover in excess of £1.8bRe-invented the brand Chad Valley creating an innocent, big box, high quality but affordable, playful toy brand that celebrated “Kids being kids”. Perfect for families that wanted to reward, buy party gifts, use as stocking fillers or holiday pacifiers, a market worth £1/2 b a year.As a team we executed a full brand re-launch including TV advertising, digital and traditional press, combined with in-store POS. In under 2 years Chad Valley was Argos No.1 Toy brand worth over £75m, bigger than Disney or Barbie delivering a 15:1 ROI vs. acquisition purchase price. Brand awareness and consumer understanding increased from 26% to 72% and this achievement was recognised by being awarded the” 2012 Retail Week Award for best Brand Innovation”.I introduced a suite of integrated brand & category marketing principles to both the Argos and Homebase commercial teams. As their Marketing Controller, I defined consumer propositions, produced brand bibles and co-ordinated product ranges across departments for; Argos Value, Babystart, Bush, Alba, Acoustic Solutions, Hygena, Schreiber & Habitat. These brands in total grew to over £600m, a 1/3rd of Argos total turnover.

They produce an array of award-winning ales; Bombardier & Youngs as well as contract brewing for Red Stripe, Corona & Kirin Ichiban. Doubled the sales of Bombardier from 40,000 BB to 82,000 BB by encouraging more real ale outlets to support the brand from Oct-May, by investing in creating a series of seasonal event kits targeting the Autumn Rugby tournaments (Oct-Mar) and St. Georges Day (Apr). Advanced planning and creating symbiotic partnerships with English Heritage I reduced total marketing support by £1m whilst tripling the total number of high quality & desirability event kits that made the landlord king. Re-focused the premium but declining Kirin Ichiban larger brand. The brand was losing its premium status through heavy discounting in the Off Trade and being sited in inappropriate outlets. I made Kirin Ichiban exclusive to the On Trade, removed over 80% of Off Trade accounts and only allowed / supported those outlets that had genuine super premium consumers at their heart. This re-established its exclusive and premium credentials, chosen outlets were rewarded with new condensating LED fonts, high quality glassware, and outside parasols, banners and signage. Sales grew in the first year by 33% and resulted in a new 10-year licensing deal being secured with the Kirin Brewery in Japan.

A pet parent that treats her dog as one of her children, wants to give a balanced healthy diet but does not exclude giving treats, especially if they provide health benefits. Each treat took the aesthetics of confectionary, packaged in zipped pouches, each having a unique functional benefit. The new range was universally supported across the UK Pet sales channels and were adopted on a Pan-European basis with each local territory applying the most appropriate local branding to the packaging and marketing support created by the UK team.
